WARNINGS
Knock offs
We made a mistake. In the early days of development. We released our FRD file for free to say thanks to those who helped us develop our FRT. Many people and vendors downloaded our improved design. The shape was only part of the finished design. These laser cut FRDs need a rigorous deburring and polishing, that combined with light trigger pressure, minimizes wear.
It makes us frustrated
People contact us daily thinking they have bought our product because these companies use our name and research in their advertising. Customers report these knock offs have problems with fit, function and finish.
If you did not order from us or our dealers, it's not an ODD MFG product. We will not replace or repair their substandard FRD.
Please review the pictures carefully and compare to vendor's products.
Metal striker housings
Because many vendors are selling bad FRD designs that damage the plastic striker housing, they offer metal and metal hybrid striker housings to reduce wear. These metal housings will destroy printed and metal FRDs
We DO NOT recommend our v7 FRD for use with metal striker housings. Metal striker housings create cascading failures. Damage to the FRD and loss of reliability will result.
Trigger Pressure
With light trigger pressure, the v7 FRD will minimally round-over the edge in front of the striker block on the plastic striker housing. The OEM striker housing will remain operational for the life of the TX22.
Brrrt v4:
One of the most destructive accessories for TX22 owners is a poorly designed FRT. A file passed around the internet called the "Brrrt v4" was circulated on the web.
Many vendors downloaded that file and are currently produced them, even vendors that sell other well regarded FRTs. They sell the Brrrt v4 at gun shows and it destroys TX22s OEM plastic striker housings, which can only be replaced by costly shipping the pistol back to factory.
3D printed striker housings have been recommended for replacement. These 3D printed striker housings have a very short life span.
Cheap TX22 FRTs are cheap for a reason. The vendors selling them have not done the testing or understand the design. The damage cheap FRTs do makes them the most expensive FRT you'll ever buy.

Inspect used TX22s before buying
Because of the popularity of the TX22, there is a large resale demand. Inspect previously owned TX22s. before purchase. Look at the underside of the slide. Be aware of gouges in the plastic striker housing in front of the striker block.
Badly damaged plastic striker housings need to go back to Taurus for a replacement before a new disconnector or FRD can be used. The picture above shows normal wear but if there is a trench in front of the striker block, do not buy the pistol. 3D printed replacements striker housings are a poor replacement and decrease reliability.
Do not buy a TX22 if the striker housing looks like this.
